Back when I started blogging the interaction and camaraderie between bloggers was different than it is now. We visited each other’s blogs as a matter of habit although most of us hadn’t met. There was genuine curiosity about the person behind the blog and we had a fun way of knowing that through tags. It’s been a while since I wrote such a post, so here are some random facts about me I hope my readers can laugh at, empathise with or maybe roll their eyes about!

Quirky side
I have a total of eight tattoos all of which are carefully chosen and are dear and meaningful to me. Some of them include an Infinity knot, Hamsa sign with an Om, a dreamcatcher and the names of my kids.
Obsessive habits
When I truly like or enjoy something often it’s transition to borderline obsession happens before I can realise it. It could be anything; a book, an activity, a movie or even a person. Of course, it runs out its course in due time but the fondness remains.
Musically inclined
Thanks to watching and playing (and winning) Antakshari several times in childhood and college years, I have a knack of impeccably identifying songs and singers even with a tiny clip. However, today’s music and singing are a challenge I won’t dare to take.
Healthy food choices
I can ‘healthify’ recipes with practiced ease without sacrificing their taste and aroma. My family loves digging in my homemade cakes made with wheat flour, dates, yoghurt and other healthy substitutes and I love making them!
Honest introvert
Although I have multiple active social media handles I’m a very private person and fiercely guard my personal space. Also, my online and offline personalities are mostly the same. Pretence doesn’t come easily to me.
Nightmare client
My criminally sensitive skin and my total disregard for its upkeep together give my beautician nightmares that her ilk would sympathize with. Every time I visit her she openly wonders how I end up totally ruining her previous work. This is one of the random facts even I laugh about!
Hyper-imaginative
Panic is my middle name and I’m not proud of it. That sinking feeling of missing deadlines, a train or failing in Maths can turn me into a nervous wreck within seconds. A Jr (with his father’s famous calmness) often tells me “Mumma, aap thoda chill kiya karo!”
Belief in my faith
Continuing the point above, the one thing that keeps me sane is chanting Hanuman Chalisa. It gives me immense strength and renewed vigour to carry on even during my long runs. I have a habit of saying Hey Ram throughout the day and pleading to Shivji for guidance whenever I feel lost. In short, I’m a religious person and it’s an empowering feeling.
The 3am friend
A calls me an agony aunt owing to the number of people confessing their problems to me. I however prefer to be called a confidante who they trust enough to get involved. The fact that I’m a good listener (while being extremely impatient otherwise) might be a factor.
Abnormally cute!
I can break into a dance anytime, anywhere although I don’t! Polished, rehearsed steps sigh in resignation as I crush them under my extempore makeshift moves. LOL. Lucky for me, every group I’m part of has atleast one mad dancing woman of my unique abilities and we set the dance floor on fire.
These random facts have come direct dil se and I hope you don’t judge me for them. Even if you do, well, who can change you? 😜 If you found these random facts funny or relatable do share yours and tag me so I can give it a read too.

Blogger. Author. Editor. Content creator. Mom.
It was fun reading it and on a serious note it gave a glimpse into what makes you as a person. Tattoo thing shows your desire to be free behind the veneer of a simple housewife, your fondness towards object of obsessiveness shows you don’t believe in use and throw. Belief in hanumanji shows inner strength (I say this as an atheist). Impromptu dance shows your funloving side. 3am friend shows trust and reliability. Panic at some level shows sincerity. Music lover means sensitivity at some level. Skin issues too denote sensitivity at some level (moti chamdi nahi hai) , healthify food means health conscious, same online and offline personalities denotes honsety and conscientious. And last but not the least the accompanying pic which is actually honest and cute both at the same time. One more important fact which you could have added is that you still miss your Mom and believe she is watching from somewhere up there.
Thanks a lot for reading the post in such detail and observing things that I hadn’t overtly intended to share. 🙂
About Mom, well some things are too obvious to state and best left unsaid. We lost her on Diwali and this time is delicate for us.
Pretence doesn’t come easily to me – what a powerful sentence. Love this and love you cannot remember choreographies. I am the same 😀
Thanks, Suchita! We’re natural dancers and that’s the best. 🙂
That’s a brilliant idea to have a “know about me” post on our blogs. Well, I have been reading your from quite some time and by now I could figure out some of the things you have mentioned. It was lovely knowing you. I truly resonate with your obsessive habit. I, myself feel the same with things and persons, too.
It’s nice to know someone we read and interact with regularly better, right? I’m glad you liked it. Please do take it up if you like. 🙂
Ah, good that I’m not the only obsessive one!
You are fabulous, unstoppable, talented, creative, soulful, talented, intelligent, sober……… and many more I can write for you. Glad to know about you… many unknown became known to me about you today. God bless you.
Oh my, Samata! Thank you so much! I feel both blessed and flattered with your words. You’re a wonderful person and I hope you take up the tag. Would love to know more about you. 🙂
I concur about the confidante thing! 🙂
You would know that, wouldn’t you? Same feelings here! 😀
I agree with a lot of what Parijat Shukla said about your traits in his comment.Wow! You are quite a bag of surprises and a mixed one at that – an introvert who also can break into a dance! This was so refreshingly honest.
Aww…thanks a lot Preeti! Aren’t we all a bit of everything and keep surprising ourselves? This tag was but a way to share random snippets of me. Please take it up if you like. I would love to know more about you!
You say you are a private person, Varsha. But you have laid yourself bare in this blog. You have shared about your quirks and cooks openly. Even I am a born worrier. My daughter keep saying, chill mom! But the kids do not understand that you have been through so much and life has put your nose to the grinding stone. How can you chill?
Haha, you make a valid point. However, I haven’t shared anything that someone who knows me personally wouldn’t know. Our kids are right, you know. I know it’s tough but we bother ourselves the most by worrying. Today’s kids are quite sorted.
Enjoyed reading these ten things about you. That Agony Aunt factor is the one thing I can relate to, actually.
Thank you! Hi-five on the agony aunt part. 🙌🏻
You are really expressive. I must say you are probably an introvert within your space, but you know yourself. I would like to break into a dance at the drop of a hat, but I don’t think I would be able to. I hope you remain spontaneous always.
Like they say, live like there’s no tomorrow and dance like no one is watching. After years of stopping myself I’ve finally learned the importance of just being happy doing things I like. Try that, maybe it’ll work for you too. 🙂
Loved this peek behind the scenes, we have this tattoo thing in common.
You had mentioned your tattoo in some post, I think. Nice! 🙂
It was really wonderful to know more things about. Though through your writings I could relate most pointers. Love the tattoo
I really enjoyed this, the tattoos, the healthy-cake hack and owning your introvert side all felt so… real. It’s refreshing to read a “getting to know me” post that isn’t over-crafted.
Thank you so much!
The first thing that caught my eye on your pic was the tattoo. For a minute, I kept looking at it closely (sorry), wondering if it’s a tattoo or a locket. Bahut sundar hai. I would now like to see the remaining 7, please. That apart, it was good to get a (random) sneak peek about you. Perhaps, someday I should also write a similar post.
Please don’t apologise. That tattoo often gets attention due to its peculiar design. Thanks a lot! It’s an infinity knot. Will surely share my tattoos with you personally.
Please do write about yourself. I would love to read. 🙂
It was so lovely to know so much about you. Your writing always sparks creativity now I know few reasons why!
Thank you!

It was fun writing them too. Good old days!
You had me saying, ” Same pinch” when you said about worry. The rest of the blog was so refreshingly honest.
Thank you! 🙂
Loved reading your random facts! Your quirks, honesty, and hyper-imaginative side make you so relatable
