The Lane #BlogchatterHalfMarathon

How often have we looked at someone’s life and wished we had it too? Better homes, careers, or relationships, the grass is always greener on the other side. Would we truly love that life if we ever had a chance at it though? What one craves sometimes becomes a liability for another. This picture of a lonely lane inspired me to see life from the lens of the privileged. Are they as blessed as we assume? Are we blind to their hardships?

This is my sixth post for Blogchatter Half Marathon and is on the same lines. I’m writing 100-word stories with a picture prompt as part of my Blogchatter Half Marathon posts since I love creating fiction.

I’m also trying to capture one emotion in every post. Today’s emotion is: GRATITUDE.

Jim stood shakily on the unfamiliar street. This neighbourhood was a far cry from the posh locality he came from. The manicured green lawns of his home seemed to dissolve into this faded brown lane while the smooth pathway of his beautiful property had shrunk to an uneven road here.

Life had given him everything; name, fame, money, and enemies. His trusted partner had deceived him, attempted to take his life when a stranger miraculously saved him and got him here.

That was two weeks ago. Injured but curious. Jim looked around. It wasn’t much, but he was safe, alive.
