Her agonizing muffled cries filled the entire room. As she saw them strip her home bare of its soul and fill it up in their dusty rugged bags, all she could do was shut her eyes in despair and fruitlessly struggle to wring her tied hands out of the plastic ropes.
‘How could he do it?’ she thought. She had extended a helping hand to a boy desperately in need of shelter, who had in turn served her selflessly, or so it seemed. If only he hadn’t made that endeavour to do away with her gold chain, he would still be working for her.
As his partner dumped the last piece of jewellery in a bag, he walked up to her with a knife in his hand and laughed in the most bloodcurdling manner. His devilish eyes bore into her petrified ones. As the cold steel struck her neck, the last thought she had was the pain of what she had never known about him.
This post has been written for Day 2 of the 7 day blogging challenge BAR-A-THON.
Today’s prompt is ‘What you don’t know’. I have used it as a theme.
Oh no. .
That is not good. . People we help turn on us. .
Ya…and it happens in reality often. Sad.
no :/ poor lady.
Life is not as smooth sailing and perfect as we wish it to be…
How true. We are never prepared for the jolts life has in store for us.
Thanka for stopping by Ira. ☺

This is what makes people shy away from helping others. Short and crisp. Loved it.
True. Such cases happen a lot. I always wonder what people must be feeling about it. Thanks Rekha. ☺
Ah! The perils of helping others – sometimes even your own partners can’t be trusted.
The world would be so much better without these elements. But then the perfect world is a myth. One can only do the needful and hope well. Thanks for the comment Sid. ☺
Backstabbing is becoming a new trend these days… nice write up 🙂 very apt in today’s scenario.
People need to realise that we cannot take anyone’s trust for granted. It is a bigger crime than raising a knife or a gun, I feel.
Thanks for stopping by Saumy. ☺
Sadly, this happens all too often in today’s times. This is the very reason why people no longer want to help anyone.
Beautifully put Varsha 🙂
Yes it does. Can’t blame anyone for being wary of helping others at times. Sadly, the genuine needy ones suffer in the process.
Thank you. ☺
