Spotting men leaf through glossy magazines might be a rarity but make no mistake; men can be fashion-conscious too. While college-goers like their tees and low maintenance denim, the corporate kinds prefer looking dapper in formal wear or blazers. Denim is a favourite across all age-groups for their comfort and ease. However, in my opinion, when it comes to festive occasions, only ethnic Indian wear makes the cut.
The festive season is on and everyone’s gearing up to rock the traditional look. For men who aren’t fans of bling or loud colours, the latest collection of designer suits are the best way to break the monotony of everyday dressing and also up their style quotient a notch. After all, what better way to celebrate than looking fashionably different?
Ethnic wear trends to look out for this festive season!
Ethnic wear in men, while retaining the old world charm, has imbibed changing trends and created an interesting blend of Indo-western fusion. Subtle shades, in particular, have been a welcome change in the Indian fashion scene.
Thanks to social media, we were privy to some gorgeous celebrity weddings in the recent past. The one that stood out amongst them all though was Virat and Anushka’s for the classy choice of underplayed tones like lilac and mauve. Conventionally considered lady colours, it is interesting to watch men carry them brilliantly too.
Classic kurta pajamas and salwars
A family function or a traditional day at work, kurta pajamas are the best bet. They’re breezy, available in a huge variety of fabrics and colours and are easy to carry. They set a different tone without weighing you down or getting in your way. While silk is preferred for grander occasions, cotton kurtas are great for regular wear.
Pathani suits
The popularity of Pathani suits can be attributed to the fact that they are versatile, elegant and look good on everyone. They’re airy, comfortable and non-restrictive. You can easily pair them with simple short kurtas of different colours and patterns of your choice. White pathani and kurta are my personal favourite.
Nehru Jackets
Known as our late Prime Minister’s attire of choice and respectably named after him, Nehru jackets have always managed to remain in trend. They look elegant and classy and their addition can change your look completely. From Khadi to silk, you can browse from a wide range of fabrics, which will leave you spoilt for choice.
Sherwanis
Every Indian bride loves to be charmed by her sherwani-clad groom on their special day. Sherwanis represent grandeur and indulgence and are the most loved wedding attire. They’ve evolved over time and incorporated modern day influences in their designs beautifully. With them, the sky is the limit if you love accessorising!
Willing but pressed for time or plain naive, few men spend as much time and energy on shopping as women. Designer suits and sarees that are available online are a great option for them. From popular or emerging brands to conservative or trendy clothes, there’s everything available. They not only have the latest fashion trends in store but also offer good bargains that are too good to resist. A non-traditional but fascinating way to check out your favourite traditional wear, isn’t it?

Pathani Suits and Nehru Jackets are my favorites on men. They make them look smart and stand out in a crowd!
Also there is one more attire which is a gathering sorts at the bottom. And till thigh length it is like pyjama. Courtesy many awards.many men also wear asymmetrical kurtas
The love for asymmetrical kurtas is also peaking up with men. Also a pyjama till knee and thereon gathering finds it place in men’s sartorial choices.
